MARIMARI Film Project & Safe House Update - March 2026

MARIMARI SAFE HOUSE

Thank you to all our supporters for the generosity and solidarity you’ve shown through your contributions to funding Evelyn’s Safehouse. I’m very pleased to share that, together, we have raised $40,000 to date.

This is a significant milestone and it has already made a real difference. We have transferred these funds directly to Bishop Gryk in Goroka, who has agreed to help distribute and manage the funds. Bishop Gryk is already supporting Evelyn Kunda in her human rights work.

Last year, the Bishop generously allowed Evelyn to utilise an existing building on church land. The donations we have gathered through the Marimari Film Project will be used exclusively to support the ongoing operation, refurbishment, and extensions to this building - the MARIMARI SAFE HOUSE. This work will allow Evelyn to accommodate and rescue more families who are impacted by sorcery violence. You can still donate to Evelyn via the Open Collective.

In 2025, Marimari film director Paul Wolffram, traveled to Goroka to help install clean water for the safehouse. In 2026 we hope to work with the Bishop of Goroka to help plan and implement the safe house extensions.

See this little video for a tour of the safe house and the plans for extension: KEFAMO SAFE HOUSE 2025

MARIMARI FILM SCREENINGS

Marimarihas now screened at more than ten international film festivals. The film received recognition at the international Impact Film Awards and has now played in Europe, America, and across the Pacific. Marimari also had three screenings in Papua New Guinea, including an event in Port Moresby last July held with the support of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. A special screening was also hosted by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Canberra last year.

Marimari is now available on AroVision: AroVision: Marimari

Please encourage others to view the film on the AroVision platform.

The cost of viewing Marimari on Arovision covers the cost of hosting the film, and a portion goes towards Evelyn and the survivors shown in the film. If you feel compelled to pay the same amount as you would for the cinema, you can donate the difference here to Evelyn: opencollective.com/evelynssafehouse

All funds donated through OpenCollective go straight to Evelyn.
